Leon Bird
Bird Agronomics was formed in 2009 under the leadership of owner Leon Bird. Leon, an accomplished agricultural innovator for 40+ years, founded and operated a successful seed corn business known as Bird Hybrids for over 25 years. In an effort to partially retire from the seed corn business and focus more on Bird Agronomics, Leon blended Bird Hybrids with Denzler Seeds to form First Choice Seeds.
Leon is also the Co-founder of Advanced Biological Marketing, and was Co-founder of the Tillage Radish ™and Cover Crop Solutions. Additionally he is a founding member of the Independent Professional Seed Association. His work with ABM Inoculant and Tillage Radishes/ Cover Crop Solutions has helped both to become nationally known companies. Recently Leon and his family relocated to Utah. As a result cover crop seed operations have been transferred to Cody Beacom.
Cody Beacom
In 2012, Cody Beacom began working for Bird Agronomics and took over Cover Crop seed operations in 2017. Cody brings many diverse agronomic and conservation related experiences, many gained thru employment for the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) at numerous locations across Ohio while in college. He was also a partner in a successful hay and straw business for 10 years. These experiences helped develop his keen interest in conservation and soil health. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is also a Firefighter/Paramedic in Columbus, Ohio in addition to operating a small grain farm in Knox County, Ohio.
